Previewing NFL Thursday Night Football — Jets vs. Bills
The 0-1 New York Jets face off against the winless Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, NY on Thursday Night Football tonight. Each AFC East team is coming off a loss in Week 1 and can’t afford to go 0-2. There are a few ways to watch the NFL Thursday Night Football matchup between Gang Green and the Bills. The game will be broadcast live on CBS television, The NFL Network, and can be streamed online on Twitter.
Five Keys to the Thursday Night Matchup
First, will desperate times call for desperate measures? What team will go the extra mile (trick play, going on fourth down, creative blitzing) to win?
Revis Peninsula?
F&TS first-round fantasy football draft pick, WR A.J. Green, torched Darrell Revis for over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown during their Week 1 matchup. Is Revis no longer the premier shut down corner in the league? Watch the matchup between Revis and number one Bills’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins has battled injuries during the pre-season and during Week 1.
Rex Ryan’s Butt on the Line
We know Rex Ryan talks a big game, but can he back it up? Ryan promised Bills Mafia that the team would make the playoffs. The Buffalo Bills have played worse under his coaching and haven’t reached the playoffs. Ryan is trusting his coaching future to second-year QB Tyrod Taylor, but last week the offense put up only 160 yards. Were the Ryan brothers able to get their team ready for a win on a short week?
The Fitzmagic Has Returned
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick held out for more guaranteed money in the off-season. Fitzpatrick got his wish, but money doesn’t equal wins. The Jets lost to the Bills twice during last season, including a Week 17 loss that cost them a playoff berth. Ryan Fitzpatrick has a poor career record against Ryan-led defenses. As reported by the Washington Post, in 11 games against the Ryan Brothers, Fitzpatrick has a 66.8 passer rating and a 47.3 completion percentage.
Fantasy Football Fortunes
New York Jets RB Matt Forte filled up the fantasy football stat sheets during Week 1. Our League GM Kevin B. will be expecting more touchdowns from Gang Green’s featured back. If Forte doesn’t go off, will it be Brandon Marshall? GM Jack G. sure hopes so.
