The Catch of the Year By Gary Barnidge and His Backside

We might have just seen the catch of the year and it didn’t come from the league’s elite wide receivers Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, or Odell Beckham. This catch came from the rarely-used tight end for the Cleveland Browns, Gary Barnidge. That’s right, those Cleveland Browns. In the fourth quarter of their game versus AFC Central Rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, Browns’ quarterback Josh McCown connected with his tight end for an unbelievable 18-yard touchdown. Barnidge looked to have dropped the ball, but a second look showed he used his feet and butt to secure the go-ahead score. The touchdown gave the Browns a one-point lead with less than a quarter to play. The Browns eventually kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime to win the game. The final score was 33-30 and moved Cleveland to a 2-3 record on the year.

Who the Hell is Gary Barnidge?

Barnidge attended Louisville University for three years and was drafted to the NFL in 2008. The Carolina Panthers picked the tight end with the 141st overall pick. Barnidge played with the Panthers until 2012 when he was traded to the Cleveland Browns. In 2015, he was selected to the Pro-Bowl for on the strength of his 9 touchdowns and 1,000+ yards receiving. Too bad Barnidge’s great play hasn’t led to the Browns winning more games, but he is only one man.

We have to admit, we have slept on this tight end and the Browns. But when you use your own baby-making area to make a reception, you get noticed. F&TS can hear Deion Sanders on NFL GameDay Prime now, ‘when you ball, you get the call.’ Back to the catch. Please excuse the NSFW imagery, it’s a little graphic. We don’t ever want to see closeups of a man’s junk in skin-tight brown pants, but hey it scored six points. Plus the Browns actually beat the Ravens in overtime.

Nice going, Gary. The video footage of the Gary Barnidge catch is courtesy of SB Nation.
