NFL: The ‘Oscar’ for Trash Talking Goes to Richard Sherman

Sherman Channels The Rock.

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has accomplished a lot in his life. He’s escaped the mean streets of Compton, CA. He graduated high school with a 4.1 GPA, he’s a graduate of Stanford, and he’s now one of the most talented defenders in the NFL. Sherman is also one of the best trash talkers in the league. We are talking Michael Jordan and Gary Payton level. After a Monday night victory over Washington, where his opponent WR Pierre Garcon had just two receptions for 23 yards, Sherman told CSN Washington “Pierre doesn’t matter in this league.” Shots fired!

It’s obvious Sherman is a WWE fan and has been studying Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s promos.

For his part, Garcon took the high road and avoided a war of words with the pugnacious cornerback. His reply was simply….

The FTS crew loved this sparring match. We love Sherman’s swag and hell we even liked Garcon’s reply. We do caution Sherman…he  often plays more zone coverage than one on one against elite wide receivers. Sherman should thank his defensive coordinator and fellow Legion of Boom teammates instead of his own efforts. But good work on the smack talk. Please keep it up.
