Browns’ Manziel Promises to Change His Drunken Ways
Draft Bust and Party Boy Johnny Manziel checks himself into rehab.
It’s Over Johnny.
He labeled himself “a douche with a drinking problem.” These days, that quote could describe hundreds of celebs. But it was written by Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football, on his own Instagram page. The Cleveland Browns’ first-round draft pick in 2014 with a well-chronicled history alcohol and drug abuse issues checked into rehab. Manziel’s team released a statement to ESPN that read, “Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend, and teammate. He thought the offseason was the right time to take this step,” Beckworth said.
Final Drunken Straws
Manziel has not live up to his draft hype, thanks in part to his partying lifestyle. ESPN interviewed 20 Browns employees and personnel sources about the former Aggie for their story. They discovered the young quarterback’s wild ways plagued his rookie season. Johnny Football displayed a yearlong pattern of lacking commitment and proper preparation. He failed to be ready when given a chance to enter games and more dedicated to nightlife than football.
Even when Manziel told the media he was taking his career more seriously, he failed. Manziel missed the team charter to Baltimore for the last game of the season. Manziel was allegedly found at his residence drunk off his ass by Browns’ security. Any belief fans had that he would dedicate his off-season to becoming the Browns starting QB was out the window.
The Only Positive
We aren’t big fans of Manziel. To us, he’s too small to be an effective NFL quarterback and we can’t anyone seriously who parties with Justin Bieber. Manziel’s only positive trait is he attracts beautiful women around him. For example, Manziel allegedly hooked up with the gorgeous Lauren Hanley who we featured in November 2014.
