The Dumbest NFL Fantasy Football Moves of Week 3 (2014-15)
Genius can be a term that is thrown around way too liberally. My fantasy football buddies and I can be obnoxious, loud, and crude, but we are highly intelligent. Some of my friends read physics books in their spare time. Concurrently, our group also includes a highly accomplished political analyst. Of course in any group, there are individuals that consider themselves the be the smartest. While we haven’t sat down and tested each other’s IQ, one of our close friends calls himself the “Sports Genius.” The general manager of Team Vega is that guy in our crew. Unfortunately in looking back at the results of our fantasy scoring of NFL Week 3, our resident Sports Genius cost himself 27 fantasy football points by benching Washington’s Kirk Cousins. As of filing this story, Team Vega won this week’s Dumbest Fantasy Football Moves of the week.
According to our own F&TS East Coast correspondent Mike Hunt, Team Vega threw a tantrum after realizing he failed to start Kirk Cousins.

Cousins’ Final Stat Line
In a back and forth contest against the rival Philadelphia Eagles, Washington’s Kirk Cousins threw for 427 yards and three touchdowns in his first start replacing injured Robert Griffin III. Also, Cousins rushed for five yards. His quarterback rating (QBR) was 103.4 and he scored 27 fantasy football points in our standard scoring league. Even in a loss, those are impressive statistics. The nasty NFC East game was punctuated by a fourth-quarter brawl near the Washington sideline after Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was blindsided by defensive lineman Chris Baker. Baker and Eagles left tackle Jason Peters were ejected for their roles in the brawl.
Better luck next week Team Vega.
Potential Dumbest Moves From Around the League
**UPDATE** While wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and tight end Martellus Bennett are yet to play, I may lose my undefeated record. Team Marin kept wideouts Emmanuel Sanders and Kelvin Benjamin on his bench. It could be a wash. But our moves look pretty dumb right now. Sanders had 11 catches for 149 yards for 14 fantasy points in a 26-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Kelvin Benjamin had eight catches for 115 yards and a touchdown for 17 fantasy points in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Potentially leaving 31 fantasy points on his bench could be two of the dumbest fantasy football moves of this week. Thankfully, in the end, Team Marin’s moves had little impact. Jeffery and Bennett combined for 29 fantasy points.
