Josh Gordon, one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL, when he’s on the field, could return soon. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Browns are cautiously optimistic the receiver could be reinstated for his suspension this week. The wide receiver has all-pro potential but the NFL has repeatedly suspended Gordon for violations of its substance abuse policy. If he’s reinstated, do any of our fantasy football team owners have the ‘sack’ to pick Josh Gordon up as a free agent? Time will tell. But, we’re skeptical Gordon will, in fact, return. F&TS reached out to a few NFL insiders on social media this week. According to our interactions, the league will not reinstate Gordon anytime soon. So, if you were taking a chance on Gordon and select him from the waiver wire, buyer beware.

By the way, in the spirit of Jon Stewart’s character from “Half Baked,” have you ever played football, on weed?

The NFL and the NFLPA will meet to discuss Gordon’s fate this week. Gordon has a complicated case that may come down to metabolic thresholds and the league’s calendar. Gordon’s representatives have said, “Gordon wouldn’t have tested positive for marijuana under the terms of the new NFLPA agreement. His suspension should, therefore, be lifted.” “The NFL and NFLPA will bump the marijuana metabolite threshold up from 15 ng/mil to 50. Gordon’s positive test was a 16, sources have told cleveland.com.”

Is Josh Gordon a fantasy football impact player? Gordon played in 14 games and averaged 16.2 points weekly in standard-scoring Fantasy Football leagues in 2013. Gordon’s fantasy numbers were even better in points per receptions (PPR) leagues. He averaged 22.5 points weekly. Gordon’s statistics are impressive, but can he ever be trusted? Once he’s back on the field, it will be difficult to trust that Gordon is drug-free and will remain eligible to be an active member of the Cleveland Browns.
