The Weird Connection Between Michael Jordan, Jerry Stackhouse and Anita Baker
Stackhouse Sets The Record Straight; Jordan didn't Punk Me
If you weren’t aware of the historic nature of Michael Jordan’s trash-talking prowess, google it and you’ll discover he stands alone on the mountain top. Forget Larry Bird asking to a locker room of his competitors before a Three-Point Shooting Contest “who’s coming in 2nd,” this story about Jerry Stackhouse takes first prize.
In spring of 2016, former NBA player Roshown McCloud told the Brown and Scoop Podcast about the funniest memory from his career.
“I just remember stories of Jordan singing to guys when he was playing. His number one song was ‘Giving You The Best That I Got.’ I remember him singing that to Jerry Stackhouse one day and just putting on a show. It was like he had a concert going on in his own head. He gave it to you every time.
He had an answer for everything that came out of anyone’s mouth. Very few guys were able to do that, but when you found a guy like Jordan or a guy like Kobe that could do it, it was a memorable moment.”
Damn, that’s cold. I 100% believe this story, but according to a subsequent interview between Stackhouse ScoopB and Jake, it didn’t happen at all. Like they say, there is always three versions to a story…in this case, Stackhouse’s, McCloud’s and the truth.
Don’t get me wrong, Anita Baker is an amazing vocalist, but I have to admit, if I am raising up for a jumper with soul classics being sung to me, it would be a distraction. Make sure to subscribe to the Brown and Scoop Podcast on iTunes, Play.it or other streaming services available. I know them personally and they are the sh%t.
